The ancient Orthodox Church at Thumpamon was first built in AD 717 as no more than a small prayer hall.
A church renovation followed in AD 900. Built in the Gothic Revival architectural style, the church is the headquarters of the Thumpamon Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. In 2017, the structure underwent another renovation.
