Perumthenaruvi has been derived from the Malayalam words Perumthen and aruvi, meaning great honey and stream respectively. Ranni - Athikkayam - Kudamurutty - Perumthenaruvi is the main route to this 100 foot long waterfall. It falls into the Pamba river.
