The picturesque frames of the film enticed curious holidayers to queue up for a visit to Gavi. After all, seeing is believing. Part of the eco-tourism project of the Kerala Forest Development Corporation inside the Ranni reserve forest. Located 94 km from Pathanamthitta town, it is a part of the Periyar Wildlife Reserve. Government facilities now make a stay here all the more memorable. From nature lovers to trekkers, bird watchers and wildlife researchers, everyone is bound to find Gavi captivating.
Gavi hosts the Nilgiri Tahr, lion-tailed macaque, gaur or Indian bison, and elephants. You might even spot tigers and black panthers. The place is home to nearly 260 species of birds. A safari can be arranged for a more exciting trip. Register with KFDC for a day trip between 8:00 am and 8:30 pm for a tour through the landscape.
The trip begins soon after breakfast with a ride to Sabarimala viewpoint for a view of the famed hilltops. A tour guide will take you through the wilderness. This includes a visit to the plantations.
